Kathryn (Kathy) Ellerbeck, M.D., M.P.H. is a developmental-behavioral pediatrician. She is on the Baby Buffer team to help add content on “brain science” to the website and to the parenting emails that will begin in January. Dr. Ellerbeck is also meeting with primary care pediatricians to provide information about the Baby Buffer Program and to find ways to help busy pediatricians support parents of young children.
Dr. Ellerbeck is the mother of two young adult children. She completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health at Johns Hopkins in 1988 and a three year Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship at the University of Maryland in 1995. Dr. Ellerbeck has worked at the Center for Child Health and Development at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine for the past 14 years where she sees patients and teaches about child development.
Dr. Ellerbeck is one of the more than 60,000 pediatricians in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and has been involved with the AAP throughout her professional career. She is currently the President of the Kansas Chapter of the AAP. The AAP has made “translating the science” of early brain and child development to parents, educators, health care providers and policy makers a strategic priority. Dr. Ellerbeck is committed to working with the rest of the Baby Buffer team to help educate and support parents so that they can raise a healthy, happy person.
